Covid19 Information Winter Semester 2020/21

The university buildings (including the library) are open for our faculty, staff and students (including the international exchange students). The university cafeteria will be open from October 5 on, with a specific health and safety concept.

Visitors not attached to the University have to leave their contact information in case the health authorities have to retrace them in case on an infection.

University members and visitors are not allowed to enter the university for 14 days if they have been in close contact with a person tested positively for Covid19.

 

Health and safety concept of the University:

A minimal distance of 1,5 meters between two persons has to be kept on the entire campus. Inside the buildings, nose and mouth have to be covered. The masks may be taken off once the place in the classroom or the office is reached and where it is possible to keep the required 1,5 meter distance.

When entering the buildings, please disinfect your hands and/or wash your hands properly with soap. In staircases and hallways, please keep to your right to make the required distance possible.

Keeping to coughing and sneezing hygiene, proper hand hygiene and keeping physical distance (1,5 meters) and covering nose and mouth are important measures in the protection from Covid19. Therefore, the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd has provided hygiene rules in bathrooms, common rooms, and at main entrances.

Academic Calendar:

The welcome programme for international exchange students will start on October 19. Orientation days for domestic students will take place from October 26 – October 29. Regular courses will start on Monday, November 2. The exams week will take place from February 6 – February 13, 2021.

The majority of courses taught in the winter semester 20/21 will be online (Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Moodle) or hybrid (online with some face-to-face sessions in the classroom). Some courses will be taught face-to-face. The German language courses for international students and the Introduction to German Culture and Society for International Exchange students will be taught face-to-face in the classroom, with extended teaching hours to ensure as much in-classroom experience for our international exchange students as possible.

Precaution
