Postdoctorate
The University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd is an academic higher education institution that is entitled to award postdoctorates.
A postdoctorate represents recognition of a special aptitude for research and teaching (teaching qualification) in a specific subject or subject area at the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd.
Upon successful completion of a postdoctorate, the responsible faculty shall award the licence to teach for a specific academic subject or subject area.
Prerequisites for approval for a postdoctorate
In order to be approved for a postdoctorate, the applicant
- must have attained the title of Doctor at the University of Education Schwäbisch Gmünd, at another university of education or at a university or higher education institution of equal standing within the scope of the German Higher Education Framework Act (HRG);
- must normally have completed several years of academic activity in research and teaching of the postdoctorate subject;
- must normally have completed several years of practical activity at a school. If the postdoctorate relates to a subject area that is not a school subject and does not form part of general or school education, the postdoctoral board may recognise educational activities of equal value.
